Roman Durček

I prefer to focus on the medium of painting, but at the same time I study the possibilities of its overlaps, which is characterized by discursive input and materials research.I connect the painting and subject it to various experimental practices at the level of the diversity of materials, pigments and pads.I experiment with a combination of traditional and non-traditional pigments by methods of biochemical oxidation processes. This ensures a special effect for topics that are current and at the same time connected with the author' s inner experience. In terms of social-critical reflection, the current value-emptying or deviated time, I reflect and emphasize the performance of the individual and the preference for pseudo patterns.From this point of view, figural creation and work with archetypes of cultural memory dominate. I perceive emblematic figurative compositions and icons of classical art as a model of values and their contemporary value misinterpretation.

In addition to the medium, paintings also study the possibilities of its overlaps (like painting in expanded space). I connect painting with performance, happening, I subject it to various experimental practices at the level of material.
